Nella Fraguglia was born in Genoa in 1946 and has been painting passionately for several years on slate stone with oil colors and spatula technique.

This passion has also been passed on to her daughter Francesca who for some years has been following in her mother's footsteps with great enthusiasm and dedication, mainly using the spatula and where necessary applying the mixed technique with a brush, to define the detail.

They participate with their paintings in many painting exhibitions in Liguria

Slate (Ardesia) (also called Lavagna stone) is a particular variety of allotigenous metamorphic rock of sedimentary origin.

Ligurian slate is also known as 'LAVAGNA', a stone which according to the current interpretation seems to have taken this name from the locality of the same name on the eastern Riviera which until the last century was the Italian commercial center for this material.

For many centuries it has been extracted in Liguria, mainly from quarries located in Val Fontanabuona, historically in the cost area between Lavagna and Chiavari.
